Explanation of Terms and Features
Disk Quota
Disk Quota is the amount of disk space we give you to store emails, web pages, databases and files on our servers. The current average web page is 50 Kb and a small email (without attachments) is 1 Kb 1.
Given those figures our cheapest service allows you to store almost 2050 web pages, or hold over 100,000 emails. So you can image what our Standard Plan is capable of given that it is three times the size.
FTP Accounts
FTP Accounts allow people to transfer files quickly and easily to change the web site, upload and download databases and price lists or to store off-site backups.
Email Accounts
Email Accounts or Addresses allow you to send and receive emails to addresses at your domain name. For example sales@mybusiness.com.au or info@mybusiness.com
Mailing Lists
Mailing Lists allow you to quickly email all your customers the same email (for instance a newsletter or a proc list). All our accounts come complete with web based software to manage you mailings and mailing list of contacts from anywhere in the world. For more information about our Mailing List see Mail Man
Databases
All our accounts allow you to create MySQL or SQL Server Databases to store information, build shopping carts, host bogs and forums.
Sub Domains
A sub-domain is a branch of your primary domain name. If your domain name is mybussiness.com then blog.mybusiness.com would be a sub-domain called blog. Using sub-domains allows you to break your web site up into logical named blocks.
Parked Domains
A parked domain is a domain name that points to your existing web site. Fro example if you register and built the web site www.mybusiness.com and found out later that www.mybusiness.com.au would have been a better fit, you can register the .com.au domain name and park it on your account so that if a customer went to www.mybusiness.com.au they would see your www.mybusiness.com web site. The same can be done for your emails if you choose.
Add on Domains
An add-on domain is a way of using your web hosting account for more than one web site. If your primary web site is small you can use the remaining resources to create a second (or third) web site at no extra charge. You are, after all, paying for the space and bandwidth and we feel you should be able to use it all.
Bandwidth
Bandwidth is the amount of downloads and uploads through your domain each month. Whether it is uploading your web site, customers viewing your web site or sending and receiving emails. Our packages come with sufficient bandwidth to handle thousands of emails and thousands of web page visitors so we don't think you will have any issue. Should you find that you just need a little more, contact our friendly team and they will arrange it for you at minimal cost.
