Reliable, Supported Email and Web Hosting

I can send email but I can not send it, why ?

Two things can cause this. Either the outgoing mail server is wrong or your ISP blocks port 25 and your ability to send email. ISP's block port 25 access so that they can control the flow of mail (and thus SPAM) over there networks. In truth it doesn't seem to have any impact, however it is becoming standard practice, and as such you should be aware of it.

In Australia the ISP's known to stop you using your own mail servers are:

  • Telstra Bigpond
  • Optus
  • Westnet

There are probably alot more - and we will update this list as we become aware of them.

Optus customers can login to there Optus Account or call Optus Customer Service and request they remove the block. To the best of our knowledge no other ISP gives you any options.

Solution

Set your outgoing mail server to be the outgoing mail server of your ISP for example

  • Telstra - mail.bigpond.com
  • Optus - mail.optusnet.com.au
  • Westnet - mail.westnet.com.au
